Kaliurang Mountain Resort

You can get there by bus from the main terminal Umbulharjo or minibus from Terban bus station, Yogyakarta.

Kaliurang is quite a comfortable place for recreation or for meetings, seminars, etc. For these, the local gov­ernment has built some tourist facilities such as swim­ming pools, sports grounds, tennis courts, bungalows, villas with convention room, children playgrounds and so forth.

This mountain resort is also famous for its Jadah Tempe (a traditional delicacy made of glutinous rice and soybean). You can also enjoy other wonderful sites nearby such as Puncak Merapi, Jurang Boyong, Puncak Plawangan, Hutan Wisata.

Jurang Boyong

Jurang Boyong (Boyong Ravine) is one of the attrac­tive tourist sites in Kaliurang with special panorama. On the background, the looming turgo Hill soars high, pro­tecting Sleman from Merapi disasters.

From the viewing post at Boyong Ravine, Mt. Merapi is evident in its beauty on a clear day. Beside this post. there is also a trail for mountain climbers to make the trekking easier and safer.

Plawangan Peak

Puncak Plawangan (Plawangan Peak) is situated at an elevation of 1.260 M above sea level is about 1.5 kilo­meters north of Kaliurang.

To the west are found 22 caves which are the remains of the Japanese army of the 1942's. To the north and the east you may find flora and fauna of several species typi­cal to Mount Merapi. Naturally, Plawangan hill guards Kaliurang from the lava of Mount Merapi.

Kaliadem

Kaliadem (Bebeng) lies in Kepuharjo village, Cangkringan, about 2 kilometers east of Kaliurang or 39 kilometers from Yogyakarta. With a steep valley named Gendol and a very deep cave named Jepang, this won­derful place challenges adventures to trek and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the cool and comfortable nature.

Kaliadem is an open area of more than 25 hectares with pines scattered. This site is specifically designed for a camping ground.

Merapi Golf and Mountain Resort

Merapi Golf and Mountain Resort is located In Kepuharjo Village, about 8 kilometers southeast of Kaliurang.

The golf course, designed by Thomson, Wolve ridge & Perrett, lies at 800 M above sea level, has 18 holes of international standard. The area is about 60,89 hectares. With slope ground and unpredictable wind blow, you will find golfing more challenging.

You will also find a country club, a pro shop, a restau­rant, and a fitness center in the golfing complex.
