The Museum of Javanese Culture Ullen Sentalu
Partly underground, the museum sits on the Javanese imaginary line from Mt. Merapi to the South Sea. The build¬ing is a combined architecture of Javanese interior and Classic European style.
In the museum you can see a collection of works of art by Javanese female such as batik with the royal patterns of Yogyakarta Palace, Solo Palace, Pura Pakualaman and Mangkunegaran. Other exhibited works are house¬hold goods of a traditional Javanese family.
The museum management also offers a package tour of study in which you can learn to andce Javanese tradi¬tional andces, wear traditional dress, weave palm leaves, make Jamu (herbal medicine). You can also see such traditional ceremonies as Mitani (the seventh month of pregnancy), Tarapan (first menstrual cycle), Nasi Tumpeng (mount of rice), et. al.
Visitors will be told of the legend, history or culture of exhibited collections. For foreign tourists, English or French speaking guides are available.
A guest house is provided in the museum complex for those who desire to enjoy the natural beauty of Kaliurang while feeling the aura of a Javanese palace. You can also have a cup of coffee at the nearby coffee shop, or buy selected works of art at a reasonable price in the souvenir shop. In the normal condition, Trekking to Mt. Merapi may also be conducted from the very site.

Affandi's Museum
Situated on the west bank of Gajahwong River, Affandi museum is in 167 Jalan Laksda Adisucipto phone num¬ber (0274) 562593 , on the main road from Yogyakarta to Solo. Affandi was one of the most outstanding painters in Yogyakarta.     
When he was still alive, Affandi selected a number of his own paintings for private collection. He also collected a number of other Indonesian artists' works such as paint¬ings, sculptures, carved objects, etc. He successfully kept about 300 paintings which are now available for exhibi¬tion in the museum.
The museum has three galleries. The first and the second exhibit Affandi's own works from his early to the last years of his career as a painter. While the third is a two-storied gallery. In the first floor you may enjoy Affandi's master pieces, Maryati's embroideries, Kartika's paint¬ings and a collection of outstanding works of other Indo¬nesian artists. The second floor is used to keep unexhibited paintings. Between the first and second Gal¬lery lies the grave of Affandi's and his wife Maryati.
The whole complex of this museum stands on 351.5 M2 of land, holding the museum itself and Affandi's house. The sloping ground inspired him to build a very unique building. Part of museum complex takes shape of ba¬nana leaves with main pillars and several wooden carved pillars. The building's components are made of wood, with roof of banana leaves.
The upper part used to be Affandi's private room, and the lower is now used as a cafe named Cafe Loteng, in which visitors can enjoy Yogyakarta's traditional snack and beverages. This cafe and the museum are opened for public visits from Monday to Friday at 09.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m., and on Saturday at 09.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. The entrance ticket is Rp.2.000,-

Nyoman Gunarsa's Painting Museum
Nyoman Gunarsa's Painting Museum lies in 43 Wulung Street, Papringan, Caturtunggal, Depok, or about 1.5 kilometers from Affandi's museum. In this museum you can find at least 200 paintings of Nyoman Gunarsa's and those of other prominent Indonesian painters. The works of notable painters from Australia and Canada may also be found here. Most of the paintings exhibited are of the contemporary stream.
The museum is opened daily at 09.00 p.m. to 03.00 a.m. except on Sundays, at 08.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. For further information you can call (0274) 564330.

Aeronautics Museum
This museum stands inside the Indonesian Air force complex of Lanuma Adisucipto, or about 7 kilometers east of Yogyakarta. The 4.200 M2 building stands on 8.000 M2 of land.
A large number of photographs, models of aero planes may be seen in this museum. You can also track the history of the Indonesian Air Force and see the dioramas of Palapa Satellite, and Challenger space shuttle.
The museum is open for public from Sunday to Thurs¬day from 08.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 08.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. Phone number (0274) 564466 extension 5217/5289.

The Museum of Mineral Geotechnology at UPN University
The Museum of Mineral Geotechnology is a museum specifically designed for geological survey. It is located in UPN Veteran Campus, Jalan Babarsari 2, Tambakbayan Yogyakarta, telephone (0274) 485268 extension 17.
The construction is intended to support the Tridarma (Three Duties) of the university and to facilitate the geo¬logical observation, study, and development. There are various collections of minerals, gems and models and pictures of geological science.
The museum is not only open for UPN students but also visitable free of charge for public. A visit in group may be conducted on reservation. Visiting hours are from 08.00 a.m. to 02.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Despite its clos¬ing hours on Saturday and Sunday, a visit may be made on reservation on those days.
